Approval and comparison

Keep self-acceptance available when other people praise, criticize, or compare you.

13. I remain acceptable to myself when someone disapproves of a choice I made.

For example: A friend dislikes my decision; I consider the feedback and retain my self-respect.

14. I can hear useful criticism without treating it as a judgment of my whole person.

For example: A colleague says my report is unclear; I ask which part needs revision.

15. I can appreciate praise without needing it as proof that I deserve acceptance.

For example: Someone compliments my work; I enjoy it without needing another compliment to feel acceptable tomorrow.

16. I do not use someone else's success to rate myself as a whole person.

For example: A peer receives a promotion; I may feel disappointed and still accept myself.

17. I can set a personal goal without making achievement a price of self-acceptance.

For example: I aim to improve my fitness and remain acceptable to myself on a day I miss exercise.

18. I can tolerate being misunderstood without abandoning my own acceptance.

For example: Someone misreads my intention; I clarify once and remain grounded if they disagree.
